Department of Mathematics and Computer Science

HISTORY OF DEPARTMENT


The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science was established in 2007 as one of the three startup departments in the College of Sciences (COS), of Federal University of Petroleum Resource Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State.

The Mathematics and Computer Science Department of FUPRE started academic work in the 2008/2009 academic session with Late Prof Daniel Eni as the pioneer Head of Department, and later Professor Paul O. Ekoko became the second Head of Department. Late Prof. Eni was re-appointed as Head of Department in 2012 and he held till June 30, 2015.

It is envisaged that the department will graduate students who, by virtue of training, may venture into virtually any other discipline or endeavor and succeed. To ensure the realization of this, the department has altogether eighteen full-time in different areas of specializations.

The Department programs are benchmarked against the highest standards in the world to ensure global competition and relevance. This has placed a lot of challenges on lecturers and as well as students. To help us meet these challenges, the university is intends to provide internet and e-boards teaching and learning facilities to make for interface and easy interactions with similar institutions in the world.
