PHYSICAL PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT

SUBSECTION AND FUNCTIONS


1.    Architecture:

+  General Physical Planning and Development of all University projects particularly buildings, Civil works, infrastructures, furniture and equipment.
+  Co-ordinating the preparation of contract documents, invitation of tender and preparation of technical reports and tenders.
+  Co-ordinating the activities and inputs of all professionals in the construction team both pre and post contract stages of projects.
+  Monitoring of all capital and special grant projects.
+  Undertaking major rehabilitation/restructuring works.
+  Advising the University on the formulation, execution and review of policies and programmes on matters related to Physical Planning and Development.
 
2.    Quantity Surveying:

+   Preliminary cost estimate/budgeting, preparation of Bill of Quantities.
+   Preparation/vetting of valuation and interim certificates
+   Measurement of all segment of building/civil engineering works.
+   Site meetings and project supervision/settlement of disputes and claims
+   Tender evaluation analysis and reporting/ Measurement and pricing of spot items (renovation works)

3.    Civil/ Structural Engineering:

+   Structural designs & detailing of proposed & ongoing projects.
+   Costing and evaluation of engineering projects (roads).
+   Construction & maintenance of water distribution facilities.
+   Project review & commissioning of all civil engineering projects.
+   Costing and evaluation of high ways projects.
+   Design, construction and maintenance of waste water (sewages) distribution and disposals respectively.

4.    Mechanical Engineering:

+   Design of municipal water distribution reticulation.
+   Waste water disposal and storage.
+   Design and costing of storm water drainage/Design, costing and evaluation of overhead and surface water storage water tanks.
+   Engineering design of building mechanical services.
+   Costing and evaluation of mechanical projects
+   Design, construction and maintenance of water and water (sewages) distribution and disposals respectively.

5.    Electrical Engineering:

+   Design of electrical distribution/Power substations.
+   Maintenance of HV/LV distribution network.
+   Construction of 500KVA, 11/0.415KV distribution substation.
+   Costing & evaluation of electrical projects.
+   Electrical building design services of proposed and ongoing projects.
+   Supervision of all ongoing electrical projects.
+   Electrical load analysis.
+   Commissioning of all electrical projects/Planning of electrical cable layout.
