FUNCTIONS

The idea of establishing a legal unit was borne out of the desire and urgent need to have a proactive and efficient unit that will:

+   Coordinate legal activities in the university and liaise with external solicitors.
+   Attend court sittings on behalf of the University
+  Take prompt action in all legal problems of the University to reduce to the barest minimum, cost and legal embarrassment.
+   Incorporate companies for the University,
+   Ensure that the rules and regulation of the University are applied to all categories of persons in the University,
+  Ensure MOUs and lease documents, instruments are reviewed/ renewed as appropriate and in consonance with prevailing laws of the land.
+   Ensure apt minute taking at meetings
+   Preparing contract documents, vetting documents
