Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun(FUPRE), Prof Akpofure Rim-Rukeh will join other eminent Nigerians to receive honours at the 5th DAILY ASSET Annual awards , which holds today in Abuja. Rim-Rukeh, an erudite scholar will be honoured as Vice Chancellor of the year by DAILY ASSET, the fast growing national daily at a ceremony to be attended by the nation’s leading politicians, top government functionaries and Nigerians from all walks of life, who have been invited for the event.

Organisers of the event, had chosen the Vice Chancellor “for his untiring efforts to transform the Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun(FUPRE), through independent funding sources and the serial technological breakthroughs leading to acquisition of patents for new machines, equipment and fuel efficient vehicle.”

A citation on the Vice Chancellor released on the eve of the award described him as “a highly motivated and hardworking Technocrat, University Teacher per excellence, Researcher and Writer with 58 articles in reputable International and National Scientific journals.

He has presented over 20 technical papers at various scientific meetings. He has proven contribution to knowledge by the numerous books he has authored.” It said Professor Rim-Rukeh was “an academic professor of excellence in Microbial Corrosion and Environmental Studies, “ who rose through the ranks to become the Vice Chancellor of Nigeria’s premier university of Petroleum studies . The document said barely two years on the saddle as Vice Chancellor, Rim-Rukeh has recorded major landmarks in the development of the specialised university. These include: Development and production of “Blueprint for the Accelerated Development of the University”; Development and Production of “Key Performance Indicators booklet”; Introduction of New Academic Programmes: Petrochemical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Gas Engineering, Statistics, Masters in Environmental Policy and Regulations, and Science Laboratory Technologies; “Construction and Furnishing of 500 Capacity Auditorium; Construction and Furnishing of Classroom Building No. 1; Construction and Furnishing of 200 Capacity Lecture Theatre; Construction of Standard Basketball Court; Construction of Standard Volleyball and Badminton Court; Construction and Furnishing of Twin Administrative Buildings for Fire Security Services; Construction and Furnishing of two Classroom Buildings; Construction of Standard Lawn Tennis Court; Completion of University Electrification Works; Completion of University Water Works ;Construction and furnishing of College of Petroleum Management; Construction and furnishing of Classrooms and Lecture Hall Complex (Block B Phase II); Construction and furnishing of Post-Graduate School; General Electrification and External Beautification/Car Park for the block of classrooms and offices; College of Science Phase II; Completion of 750 Capacity Students Hostel; Construction and furnishing of University Library Complex; Construction and furnishing of Administrative Building; Construction and furnishing of the 500 Capacity Students Hostel; Construction of External Pavement for the Student Hostel (Girls) using Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) among others.
